EPA Brownfield Grants for Environmental Job Training

The U.S. EPA Brownfields program is now accepting applications for its Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training (EWDJT) grant. The deadline is June 10, 2019.

Through the EWDJT program, graduates develop skill sets to improve their ability to secure full-time, sustainable employment in various aspects of hazardous and solid waste management and within the larger environmental field, including sustainable cleanup and reuse, water quality improvement, chemical safety, and pesticide management.

The EWDJT program helps further environmental justice by ensuring that residents living in communities historically affected by economic disinvestment, health disparities, and environmental contamination, including low-income, minority, and tribal communities, have an opportunity to reap the benefits of revitalization and environmental cleanup.

A webinar will be held May 1 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) for prospective applicants that will explain the process of applying for an EWDJT grant and how proposals will be evaluated. Participants can join at https://epawebconferencing.acms.com/fy20ewdjt/ and/or dial into the audio conference line at 1-866-299-3188; access code: 202-566-1564.

To date, EPA has funded 305 job training grants totaling approximately $63 million through the Job Training program.
